Sen. Ron Justice was the guest speaker at the 12-26-2013 meeting of the Rotary Club of Chickasha. 
 
The Dec. 26, 2013 meeting of the Rotary Club of Chickasha opened with a prayer, pledge and holiday-themed songs.
Guests included Jacob Kennedy, a member of the Chickasha Jr. Leadship Class, and Logan and Tanner Tibbetts.
Prayer concerns included Linda Adams and Don Pittman, father of Rotarian Jerry Pittman.
Rotarian of the Day Jerry Standridge introduced Dist. 23 Sen. Ron Justice, R-Chickasha, as our guest speaker.
Sen. Justice briefed the club on the past year and legislation to watch in the legislative session that opens in February. He said the deadline for filing bills was Dec. 13 and Jan. 3 for the bills to be in final form.
Legislators recently concluded a series of interim studies on a variety of topics.

Issues facing the next session include revenue shortfalls projected to be at about $170 million, additional workers comp reforms, changes in unemployment benefits and finding a source to fund improvements on a crumbling Capitol building.
Oklahoma and the Chickasha area is "very fortunate to have plenty of oil & gas activity.
President Greg Elliott said Sen. Jim Infhofe or his field representative would speak at the Jan. 2 meeting.
