President Greg Elliott presents a $500 check at the 12-5-2013 meeting to Chickasha Police Officer Laruen Mathew's for the FOP's Children of Our Community program.The Dec. 5, 2013 meeting of the Rotary Cub of Chickasha opened with a prayer, pledge and song.
Guests included Laurie Allen and Deena Hammonds.
Prayer concerns included Don Pittman, father of Jerry Pittman.
Corad Duprez asked Rotarian men to consider being mentors for 5th grade boys at a February luncheon for 5th grade boys sponsored by the Chickasha Public School Foundation. The foundations has had a similar event several years for 5th grade girls. About 45 mentors are needed. See Condrad if you can help.
President Greg Elliott presented a $500 check to Police Officer Lauren Mathews and the Chickasha FOP to help with the efforts of the Children of Our Community Organization which provided toys, food and clothing for children during Christmas.
Laurie Allen invited Rotarians to attend a Women of Faith teleconference that could been at Bible Baptist Church on Friday evening.
President Greg reminded Rotarians of the Dec. 12 Christmas Party. Tickets and money for the Gator drawing need to be turned in to Greg or Crystie Shebester by Dec. 11.
Rotarian of the Day was Jay Epperson, who introduced Cody Bannister of the Oklahoma Independent Producers Association as our guest speaker.
There are about 2,500 large and small oil companies who are members of the OIPA, which is the largest oil & gas advocacy group in the state. Of its members, about
half employ less than 10 employees, Bannister said.
He said the Oil & Gas industry.is the Number 1 defining industry in Oklahoma. Grady County is in the top 10 of leading oil & gas producing counties.
Horizontal drilling has increase production in the state. The SCOOP region in Central Oklahoma is expected to produce for up to 30 years. Only about 20 percent of the state's reserve has been tapped.
The state's Gross Production Tax is expected to reap more than $900 million this fiscal year. Oil & Gas is responsible for generated $1 of $3 in Oklahoma and for one of every six jobs.
President Greg reminded everyone once again that there will be no noon meeting next week because of the Christmas Party that evening.
The meeting closed with the recitation of the 4-Way Test.
