Patty Davis, Executive VP of Oklahoma Hospital Association, was guest speaker at the 5-16-2013 meeting of the Rotary Club of Chickasha The May 16 meeting of the Rotary Club of Chickasha opened with a prayer, pledge and song.
The song was Eye of the Tiger. Purportedly, there is a funny video available that will be posted later.
Visitors included Scott Johnson, John Gordon, Eddie Adamson and Evan Sutton.
Run chairman said everyone needs to be in place for the run no later than 7:30 a.m. on Saturday. Volunteers are still needed.
Rocky Roberson’s son Jonah Roberson, Rotarian Rocky's son, accepted a check from the club for his Boy Scout Troop.
Rotarian of the Day was Mike Nunamkaker, who introduceed Patty Davis, Executive VP of Oklahoma Hospital Association, who spoke on the impact of the Healthcare Act of 2010.
She asked "should we accept the funds or not? Yes we should accept the Obama Care funds in Oklahoma, she said. Oklahoma has a history of accepting funds that help our roads, education national defense and disaster relief. Why not now?
There are 636,0000 uninsured in OK. Most are 19-34 years old. Coverage would be provided for 180,000 of those folks.
Davis said $8.6 Billion could be received by 2022. If we don’t accept it, it will create a disadvantage for recruiting doctors and doctors will leave our state because there are too many uninsured folks. Money will go to other states and help them, not sue. It will not help the federal deficit to reject the money.
The negative impact of rejecting the money to OK Hospitals will result in cuts of $3.44 billion between 2014-2022. Grady Memorial will need to cut $9.1 million.
