The 9-27-2012 meeting of the Rotary Club of Chickasha opened with a prayer, pledge and song.

Prayer concerns include Jerry Mottinger, who is hospitalized with pancreatitis, and Bill and Janice McVey.
President Cody White reminded Rotarians that time is running out to get matching points for Paul Harris donations. He said get your contribution to Pauline Garrett no later than the afternoon of Friday, Sept 28 to credit for the matching points.
He also encouraged Rotarians to show up at this weekend's Rock Island Arts Festival to volunteer as a worker.
Also, he asked for volunteers to go to Friday night's CHS-Capitol Hill football game at Memorial Stadium to sell programs. You are asked to be there no later than 6:45 p.m.
Ann Manchester said items were needed for the silent auction at this year's Christmas Party.
Our guest speaker was Dan Andrulonis was introduced by Rotarian Phil Gordon.
Dan poignantly described the difficulties of living with loved ones with addictions.
Dan and his wife, Cindy, were instrumental in starting Celebrate Recovery, a Christian-based program for addicts and their families.
Dan, whose father was an alcoholic and whose oldest son has struggled with addiction, talked not only about their problems but the impact addiction has on the entire family.
Dan said you must take care of yourself and realize you "can't fix" the person with the addiction.
He felt led by God to start the faith-based program in Chickasha after attending meetings of Alanon.
Started in 2007, 14 people attended the first meeting of Celebrate Recovery. Almost six years later, Dan said about 75 people a week -- addicts, spouses, children and other family members -- attend meetings. The program addresses addictions of all types -- drugs, alcohol, pornography or gambling. It meets every Monday at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 4th & Colorado.
The program recently spawned another group, The Landing, which serves teens 13-18.

Before adjourning President Cody reminded us that Rotary is about service and told a story about his dad saying that all Rotarians did was write checks. He implored members to get out and serve, starting this weekend with the program sales or arts festival.
