Chickasha's Festival of Light celebrates 30 years this season. Rotarian Jim Cowan presented a documentary for the occasion made by Reagan Elkins, and discussed where the Festival has been and where it is now.
The December 1, 2022 meeting of the Rotary Club of Chickasha was called to order by President Lewis Knisley. Rotarian Mitch Williams led the club in singing "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer".

Pres. Kinsley reminded members that the Rotary Christmas Party will be held Monday, December 12, 6 pm at The Club (Chickasha Country Club). The Imaginaries will be the featured entertainment. Register using this form by Dec. 5 if you are attending.

As Rotarian of the Day, Jim Cowan presented a documentary made to mark the 30th season of the Festival of Light. The documentary was released on social media in November and was made by Reagan Elkins of Intellego Media, who was also present at the meeting as a guest.

After the documentary presentation, Cowan added a few comments. On opening night, members of the original Festival of Light committee were honored as part of the ceremonies. This season saw the debut of the "Frozen Forest" north of the dam. Cowan said that the electrical infrastructure that had been added to support it may also support other events and attractions in the future. The gift shop has been refreshed this year and features 8 local merchants. The "Santa Shuttle" from downtown will run the first 3 Fridays and Saturdays in December.

Cowan also stressed how great of an accomplishment the Festival is and the spirit of volunteerism that it has incited in Chickasha over the years. He remarked that there was a great deal of uncertainty 30 years ago, and some years have been harder than others, but the community has stuck with it. Many people contributing a small amount make something great happen. Today it is one of the most attended light displays in the state.
