Rotary returns to FCC as new President Nathan Donald takes over
The July 7, 2016 meeting opened with a prayer, pledge and a song. It was the first meeting of the new Rotary year with newly installed President Nathan Donald leading the proceedings.
It was also the first meeting back at First Christian Church after several weeks across the street at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church while FCC did some heating & cooling updates.
Guests included Cassie Terry, Jonah Korakie, Mike Phipps and Daniel Mabry.
Elmer Kuntz was recognized for perfect attendance the previous year and Michael Oberlender was introduced as Rotarian of the Year.
Rotarian of the Day was Mitch William who instructed Brad Richter as our guest speaker.
Brad, a mechanic and instructor pilot at Chickasha Wings, talked about a new chapter in his life as he endeavors to become a missionary for the New Tribes Mission through a program called Mission Aviation.
Mission Aviation supports missionaries by supporting their needs for safe transportation to remote areas. Pilots must also take an active part in the spiritual encouragement of missionary co-workers and the indigenous church.
Brad, his wife Courtney, and their two sons are moving to Wisconsin for a year of Bible College training before moving on to a year of missionary training in Missouri, followed by a specialized aviation training in the fall of 2018 to train on how to land in rugged and remote conditions.
In the summer of 2019, Brad and Courtney, an RN, hope to began serving in New Guinea, Brazil or the Philipines.
The family will need up to $6500 a month for expenses as missionaries and they are asking for community prayers and financial support.
