Daryl Anderson spoke to Rotary about the history of the U.S. moon missions, and his own involvement in the Saturn V rocket that got us there.

The March 16, 2023 meeting of the Rotary Club of Chickasha was called to order by President Lewis Knisley. Rotarian Mitch Williams led the club in singing "Fly Me to the Moon".

Rot. Gerron Smith delivered a Rotary Run update—as of the time of the meeting, the club had secured $7,700 of its $10,000 goal in sponsorships.

The Rotarian of the Day was Ron Sanders. The speaker was Daryl Anderson.

Anderson once worked for IBM, and through that had the opportunity to work on the Saturn V rockets used in NASA's Apollo missions. Specifically, his team worked on the instrument unit that went into orbit. Anderson brought a model Saturn V and explained the different components, and the process of launching, entering lunar orbit, landing on the moon and returning. He discussed all the lunar missions briefly.
