Guest speaker of the 4-19-2012 meeting of the Rotary Club of Chickasha was Jeremy Howard of Riverbend Golf Club.
The April 19, 2012 meeting of the Rotary Club of Chickasha opened with a prayer, pledge and song.
Guests were Paul Lewis, Amanda Bolin and Katie McNeil.
Prayer concerns include Larry Brown and Bill and Janice McVey.
President Michael Oberlender reminded Rotarians about the need for help every Friday greeting Chickasha High School freshman. See Bill McVey for details.
The sign up sheet for duties at the May 19 Rotary Day Run was circulated. All Rotarians need to be there to help since a 10K run and a walk around the lake have been added.
Rotarian of the day was Richard VanDyck, who introduced Jeremy Howard of Riverbend Golf Club.
Jeremy is the son of Steve Howard, who purchased the club in November.
Jeremy said a meeting has been planned for old and prospective members.
The golf course will be open to the public but a 30 x 70 feet pool, tennis court and a cabana will be available solely to members. He said the fee structure is still being determined and would be available at the May meeting.
He said the course would be ready to open on July 1. All greens are being replaced with six or seven being reshaped to better hold the ball.
In addition, 75 gas-powered golf carts have been purchased.
The clubhouse is being remodeled to became a steakhouse, that will open on Aug. 1. The pro shop will move back across the street and will be fully stocked with golf merchandise. Their will be a driving range and a putting green.
Howard said Don McGuire has been hired to be the golf pro.
