The July 25-2013 meeting of the Rotary Club of Chickasha opened with a prayer, pledge and songs.

President Greg Elliott announced July birthdays that included Tim Brauer, David Sikes, Amy Sutton and Lynn Bailey.
2013 Rush Springs Watermelon Festival Queen Brittany Ball talked about this year's festival that is on Saturday, Aug. 10. She brought two Rush Springs grown melons that were auctioned off with Steve LaForge and Tom Adams at $100 each. Thanks, gentlemen.
Jo Perryman, president of the Chickasha United Teacher's Association, told the club about a Back To School health fair CUTA is sponsoring on Tuesday, Aug. 13 at Bill Wallace for students in pre-K through 6th grade. She asked businesses to support the event by having a booth to provide supplies to kids. She said there is a poverty issue in Chickasha with about 90 percent of kids eligible for free or reduced lunch. And, they often do not have the means to buy proper school supplies. Some limited health screenings will be conducted at the fair.
Rotarian of the Day was Judge John Herndon who introduced Linda Monroe, Regional Adminstrator of Chickasha office of the Oklahoma Child Support Services, as a our guest speaker.
The OCSS is a division of the state department of DHS that among other things enforces child support order, establishes paternity, collects and distributes payments and modify orders.
They can force payment of child support through several remedies including tax refund intercepts, license revocation, liens and contempt of court orders.
Linda said there are almost 5,000 open child support cases in Grady and Caddo Counties that are handled in the Chickasha office. Statewide there are about 205,000 cases.
The OCSS customer assistance call center handles about 4,200 calls each day.
